Gap Acceptance at Al-Jazeera Intersection in Brak
Abstract
This paper studies and analyzes drivers' behavior with regard to gap acceptance or rejection at the Al-Jazeera intersection in Brak (a small city located at Wadi Al-Shati in the southern part of Libya). For the assessment and evaluation purposes, the video recording method was used to collect the traffic data, in addition to manual counts. This in turn helps to check the position of vehicles along the intersection, to define the gap and lag times between the vehicles, and to find out the drivers' acceptance to these times in order to perform the through or merging movement.
